UPCOMING PROGRAMS

SEPTEMBER 15, 2021

Coral Reef vs. Open Ocean

Do all fish have the same adaptations for living in their ocean home? Within the ocean there are several different types of habitats. Come explore two of the major habitats and how fish have adapted to living there.

OCTOBER 13, 2021

Freshwater vs. Saltwater

Freshwater and saltwater habitats have one major difference between them: their levels of salinity, or salt. Lots of plants and animals can live in each environment, but there are very few species that can survive in both. In this class, we will be exploring these two habitats and the various species of plants and animals that call them home.

NOVEMBER 17, 2021

Sunlight Zone vs. Midnight Zone

How do plants and animals react to living in different levels of light? In this class, we will be exploring two different zones of the ocean: the sunlight zone, which receives a lot of sunlight, and the midnight zone, which receives very little light.

*Bioluminescence Lab—Night Lights*

JANUARY 19, 2022

Plate Tectonics and Earth Layers

Have you ever wondered how large structures like mountains or volcanoes are formed? The Earth is comprised of different layers, with the outermost layer being broken up into to a jigsaw puzzle of tectonic plates. In this class, we will explore the movement of these plates and how that movement has shaped our planet.

FEBRUARY 16, 2022

Tropical Rainforests

This habitat is home to over half of the world’s plant and animal species, but only covers about 6% of the Earth. In this class, we’ll explore tropical rainforests, the different species that call it home, and the important role that they play for us as well as the health of the planet.

*Rainforest Biome Lab*

MARCH 16, 2022

Grasslands

Grassland habitats are mostly made up of flatlands, lots of grasses, very few trees, and see very little rainfall. Many of the species of animals which call the grasslands home are grazing animals. Come explore the different grasslands across the world, from the prairies of North America to the savannas of Africa.

APRIL 13, 2022

Deserts

These habitats may appear empty with hardly any signs of life, but they are actually home to many species of plants and animals. Come and explore this dry habitat and discover the different ways that animals and plants survive there.

MAY 18, 2022

Tundras

Can you imagine a home without any trees? Tundra habitats are completely treeless. The animals that call the tundra home must be adapted for a very harsh lifestyle. In this class we will explore these cold, frozen, and windy environments.
