What were you doing before joining Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada?
When I joined Ripleys, I was working on completing my degree at the University of Toronto for Biodiversity and Conservation Biology. Previously, I did public outreach at a reptile conservation centre.
Favourite aquatic animal in the aquarium?
My favourite animals in the aquarium are the sea dragons. They are closely related to sea horses, but appear to be covered in leaves or kelp. They’re masters of camouflage as well as beautiful and mysterious creatures.
Best part about working at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada?
The best part about working at Ripley’s is working with other passionate, enthusiastic and like-minded people. Everyone has something new to share and wants to make a genuine contribution to marine conservation.
Any other fun facts about you?
I have an adorable pet snake!
What made you decide you wanted to pursue a career in Education/Marine biology?
I’ve always known I wanted to make a difference, and through my studies I learned more about how critical oceans and reefs are to the health of the planet and people. I’m also a scuba diver, and have seen the changes in the reefs firsthand. I love that Ripley’s presents the opportunity for me to share what I’ve learned with our guests and spread the word about how anyone can make change!
