When did you know you wanted a career in marine biology?
As long as I can remember, my father always had a wide variety of pets in the house, which initially sparked my love for animals. Although I started in the path towards zoology, I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to work here as an aquarist. It has opened a greater door to the wonderful world of marine biology and allowed me see the amazing charisma that aquatic life can have. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Favourite aquatic animal in the aquarium?
The only porcupine fish found in the Dangerous Lagoon. She’s such a gentle creature and is especially cute when she comes up to the surface for a piece of squid or capelin. But I love pufferfish in general.
Best part about working at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada?
I love being a part of a truly amazing, passionate team that I can call my friends, having the platform to educate people about helping the environment and oceans, and of course being able to work with animals every day is always exciting.
