Downtown Toronto aquarium hosts first annual New Year’s Eve party

Ring in the New Year under the sea with over 20,000 aquatic animals. On December 31st, Ripley’s Aquarium will host its first-ever New Year’s Eve celebration for 19+ guests.

Dive right into the festivities with a fun-filled evening of music by DJ Shamz and a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres by Daniel et Daniel featuring steak frites, pimento cheese fritters, Ocean Wise certified sushi burgers, and more. Countdown to the stroke of midnight with the sharks of Dangerous Lagoon but remember to just keep swimming because the celebrations will continue well after the clock strikes 12.

New Year’s Eve at the Aquarium runs from 9pm until 2am. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $90+ HST (annual pass holders will receive a 10% discount on ticket sales) and includes general admission, 1 drink token, hors d’oeuvres, coat check and a souvenir from the Ripley’s photo booth.

A Bootlegger’s Bash at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Downtown Toronto aquarium hosts Prohibition-style event

Can you keep a ‘sea’cret? Neither can we! On November 24th, Ripley’s Aquarium will throwback to the roaring 20s with its Prohibition-inspired Waves & Whisky event.

Passwords aren’t required at this 19+ event that will transform Canada’s largest indoor aquarium into a one-night only speakeasy, complete with rustic whisky bars, classic cocktails, flapper girls and live music.

Sample some of today’s finest whiskies including Gooderham & Worts, J.P. Wiser’s Triple Barrel Rye and Jameson Irish Whiskey or enjoy a Waves & Whisky signature cocktail at one of several themed bars.

Dance the night away with local jazz favourite, Lady Be Good, and capture the moment at the Ripley’s photo booth. Then grab a late-night snack at Ripley’s Café which will feature fresh-cut fries, souvlaki and pierogi stations.

Waves & Whisky is part of Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada’s 5-part event series, SPLASH! and is reserved for guests 19 years of age and older. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $28+ HST (annual pass holders will receive a 50% discount on ticket sales).

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada celebrates annual festival with 19+ event

Grab your lederhosen and make your way down to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada for the first annual Octo-berfest party! On Thursday, September 28th, Canada’s largest indoor aquarium will play host to one of the unique Oktoberfest celebrations in the city.

Learn how to drink beer upside down with Mr. Oktoberfest himself, George Kash, and his band, the Oktoberfest Express. Enjoy authentic Bavarian foods like sausages, schnitzel, pretzels and strudel. Raise your stein and enjoy a selection of some of Ontario’s finest craft breweries including: Beau’s, Collective Arts Brewing, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, Great Lakes Brewery, Niagara Oast House Brewers, Railway City Brewing Co., Sawdust City Brewing Co., Side Launch Brewing Company Inc., and Steam Whistle Brewing.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Cleans Up This Weekend

Shoreline cleanup planned for Humber Marshes

In honour of World Oceans Day this past week and as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup initiative, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada will conduct a shoreline cleanup of the Humber Marshes, this Sunday, June 11th at 10am.

Members of the general public will join the Aquarium’s Blue Team to collect garbage and recycling from the shores of the Humber Marshes – one of the few remaining river mouth marshes in Toronto and an important breeding habitat for ducks, turtles and fish; as well as a significant corridor for migratory song birds and monarch butterflies.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada celebrates Pride Month with special 19+ event

Celebrate all the colours of the rainbow this June at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. On June 16th, the downtown Toronto attraction will host its second annual Night at the Aqueerium event for guests 19+.

Join DJ Cozmic Cat for a fun-filled evening of music, live entertainment and dancing featuring some of Toronto’s favourite drag queens. Enjoy light refreshments and specialty cocktails and see how the fish are getting in on the fun at Rainbow Reef or Planet Jellies. Explore the waters of Dangerous Lagoon, then grab some friends and capture the moment at the complimentary photo booth.

If you’re looking for a different way to make a splash during the weekend, then look no further than Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Get out your slap bracelets and retro wear and celebrate the era that gave way to boy bands, grunge and the golden age of hip hop at 90s Night on Friday, May 5th. Master your moves at Dance Dance Revolution or challenge your friends to a game of life-sized Connect 4 or Jenga.

‘Tis the ‘Sea’son at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Swim into some holiday fun at Toronto’s only indoor aquarium.

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada will make the season bright with a host of holiday activities. From underwater greetings by old St. Nick himself to lively musical performances, it’s the best way to deck the halls in downtown Toronto.

Santa and his elves make their first dive of the season on Friday, December 9th at 3:15pm in Ray Bay, while early risers will have the chance to meet the man himself at Breakfast with Santa on December 10, 11 and 18.

In addition to a holiday edition of the popular Friday Night Jazz series on December 9th, Ripley’s will welcome back the Toronto Concert Orchestra for a celebration of holiday classics at Symphony of the Sea on December 16th.

Back to School at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Downtown Toronto aquarium launches class sponsorship program for 2016-2017 school year

Give the kids something to cheer about this September with Ripley Aquarium of Canada’s Sea Scholars program.
Teachers from across the GTA are being invited to submit applications for this popular program, which allows classes of up to 35 students to visit the Aquarium for free.

In order to qualify, teachers must submit an essay, art project or other presentation that demonstrates why their class should be selected to participate in the Sea Scholars program. Based on eligibility requirements including a minimum financial need, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada will select up to 20 classes (minimum 10 students, maximum 35 students) to receive sponsorship.

Selected classes will enjoy complimentary admission to the Aquarium, a free behind the scenes tour and a $250 transportation bursary to be used towards bussing costs.

Deadline for submissions is September 30th, 2016 and all schools will be notified by email on or before October 15th, 2016.

Dive into Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

New program allows guests to get up close and personal with some of nature’s most beautiful sea creatures

If you’ve ever wanted to swim with the sharks…now’s your chance. Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada’s new Discovery Dive program allows guests to get face to face with sharks, sea turtles, sawfish and more.

After a behind-the-scenes tour of the Aquarium’s life support systems, feeding and husbandry areas, certified divers are submerged into the water for a 30-minute guided tour of Dangerous Lagoon where they will have the opportunity to explore many different fish species along with magnificent tiger, sand and nurse sharks, moray eels, sawfish and sea turtles.

For less adventurous divers, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is also offering a new snorkeling experience in Ray Bay, which allows guests to swim among four species of stingrays and bonnethead sharks.
